Position Overview:

The Outset is seeking a strategic and solutions-driven Director of Operations to lead and evolve our end-to-end operations as we scale. This role is critical in ensuring our supply chain, logistics, sales operations, and finance systems run with precision, agility, and alignment. From forecasting demand and managing inventory to optimizing fulfillment and streamlining cross-functional workflows, you’ll be the operational heartbeat of the business—enabling our team to deliver on our promise of clean, effective skincare with ease.

Reporting directly to the COO, this leader will work across departments and external partners to drive efficiency, accuracy, and consistency across our growing omnichannel business, including DTC, retail, and wholesale. Key Responsibilities

• Supply Chain & Inventory Management
• Lead demand and supply planning to ensure product availability meets customer and business needs.
• Own the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process, partnering cross-functionally to drive alignment.
• Maintain optimal inventory levels through regular audits, reconciliation, and proactive tracking.
• Collaborate with Product Development to follow up on purchase orders (PO) and inventory flow.

Logistics & Fulfillment

• Manage inbound and outbound shipping, ensuring timely, cost-effective deliveries.
• Manage warehouse operations and coordinate with our providers to ensure seamless fulfillment.
• Monitor and resolve order delays to ensure smooth and on-time shipping across all sales channels for all orders.
• Monitor and resolve Celigo errors, check order statuses in the Capacity portal, and ensure system accuracy.

Sales & Finance Operations

• Coordinate wholesale order placement, tracking, and invoicing.
• Manage wholesale order processing systems and ensure alignment with financial workflows.
• Oversee end-of-month financial activities, including inventory audits and reporting.
• Ensure accuracy between financial records and supply chain activities, understanding and managing any discrepancies.

Systems & Process Management

• Utilize and manage ERP (NetSuite) for inventory and accounting management.
• Manage Shopify as the e-commerce order processing system.
• Maintain middleware integrations (Celigo) between Shopify, NetSuite, and the warehouse.
• Support and monitor the Capacity portal for 3PL fulfillment operations.
• Ensure smooth EDI integrations (TrueCommerce, Spring Systems) with key partners (eg. Nordstrom,Credo and Amazon).
• Oversee vendor invoicing via Bill.com and maintain vendor portals (e.g., Cult Beauty, QVC).

Reporting & Reconciliation

• Ensure accurate data capture for e-commerce orders shipped within the month.
• Perform Amazon end-of-month reconciliation, by reviewing and validating reports.
• Review and manage prepaid inventory, updating records and reporting discrepancies.

Qualifications & Experience

• 10+ years of experience across supply chain, inventory management, fulfillment, sales and finance operations, systems, and process optimization; experience in beauty is strongly preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience hiring, mentoring, and managing high-performing teams.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Strong command of financial and operational principles—especially around logistics budgeting, cost management, and third-party vendor negotiations.
• Proficiency in navigating tools like NetSuite, Shopify, Celigo, Bill.com and related tools is essential. 
• In-depth knowledge of order management processes across DTC, retail, and wholesale channels.
• Sharp analytical thinking and strong math skills.
• Proven ability to negotiate effectively and manage external partners with a focus on cost control.
• Track record of leading cross-functional efforts to streamline operations and optimize costs.
• Strong communicator and collaborator, with the ability to influence across multiple teams.
• Thrives in a fast-moving environment and can juggle multiple priorities with ease.
