QUALIFICATIONS: - Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to the completion of a high school diploma.
- Must have basic working knowledge of mechanics. Some type of verifiable training or experience is preferred
- Must be able to identify equipment components and operations to the satisfaction of the Shop Foreman in a pre-employment screen.
- Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential function of the position.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Shop Foreman and Director of Transportation or designee
JOB GOAL: To keep the district's buses in a state of operating excellence so that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Assist in the inspection of buses.
- Must be able to work independently, be a self-starter, and be able to work under pressure.
- Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs to district equipment with the supervision and guidance of the Shop Foreman or designee.
- Be willing to receive training and/or certification required to perform duties.
- Service and repair buses according to industry and safety standards.
- Reports to the Shop Foreman or designee any areas of concern pertaining to the safe operation of buses.
- Possess and maintain a current class B CDL with air brake, school bus, and passenger endorsement.
- Drive a regular route or activity when called upon.
- Must be able to prioritize jobs for maximum efficiency.
- Must be able to lift at least 80 pounds regularly.
- Demonstrates effective human relations and communication skills.
- Adheres to good safety practices.
- Adheres to all district rules, regulations, and policies.
- Other duties as required or assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The individual who holds this position is regularly required to walk, hear and speak and must have close moderate and distance vision ability. This individual must be able to travel between district facilities. The position requires a moderate amount of travel and physical activity.
CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT: The work environment is consistent with typical office/school environment.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work calendar to be established by the Board of Education. Benefits according to Board policies.
FLSA: Non-exempt
RETIREMENT: Public School Retirement System (PSRS) or Public Education Employee Retirement System (PEERS) eligibility will be determined by the state of Missouri.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES: Obtain and/or maintain a CDL Class B and an MVI license
CLEARANCES: Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance
